Description

The EDIX® Alydar is a stylish and versatile soft tree jumping saddle, specially designed for riders seeking balance, comfort, and close contact with their horse. Whether you’re training for show jumping competitions, riding for pleasure, or gymnasticizing your horse in the arena, the Alydar supports both rider and horse in every movement.

Construction

The EDIX Alydar is built on a flexible soft tree, an internal three-part base consisting of a fibre 3-point headplate, a fibre cantle, and a connection made from thick yet supple leather. This leather tree is layered with multiple shock-absorbing and flexible materials.

While technically still treeless, as there is no rigid, solid tree, the Alydar offers more structure than traditional treeless saddles. This allows the saddle to mold to the horse’s anatomy while distributing pressure evenly.

The interchangeable gullet system provides ample wither clearance and makes it easy to adjust the saddle as the horse’s body develops. The front girth straps are attached directly to the panels for an optimal saddle position. The EDIX Y-girthing system, with one front strap and two rear Y-straps, offers various girthing options for a stable and balanced fit.

The knee and calf blocks can be positioned entirely to the rider’s preference with Velcro underneath the flap. By choosing from small, large, or short blocks, the rider can customize support according to their riding style.

Benefits for the Horse

  • No rigid tree, complete freedom of movement for the spine

  • Flexible, soft structure adapts to the horse’s back

  • Wide panels for optimal pressure distribution

  • Y-girthing for a stable saddle position

  • Interchangeable gullets and refillable panels to adapt to body changes

  • Always adjustable through interchangeable panels (by an EDIX saddle maker)

Benefits for the Rider

  • Designed for jumping and versatile use

  • Adjustable knee and calf blocks for correct leg position

  • Provides a stable, balanced seat

  • 2-year warranty on construction and 5-year warranty on the EDIX Soft Tree

Availability

The EDIX® Alydar saddle is available in black or brown leather, in sizes XXS-16", XS-16.5", S-17", M-17.5", and L-18". Your EDIX dealer will be happy to help you create the perfect combination.

For optimum stability while riding, EDIX recommends a 3-part anatomical girth or crescent girth. These girths move with the horse’s breathing and movement, ensure even pressure distribution, and relieve the chest muscles.

We also recommend using the saddle with an EDIX 8-pocket pad. This allows precise adjustment of pressure distribution and balance thanks to the option of adding shims.

Price from: € 1,795.00 (including complete interchangeable gullet set)

Choosing the right girth is just as important as c Choosing the right girth is just as important as choosing the right saddle!

Every horse is built differently, and understanding your horse's girth groove can make a huge difference in saddle stability, comfort, and freedom of movement.

🐴 Neutral Girth Groove (image 1)
A neutral girth groove is located approximately a hand's width behind the elbow and directly beneath the center of the saddle. This creates a balanced position with minimal forward or backward pull on the saddle.
✔️ Best choice: Straight or anatomical girths.

🐴 Forward Girth Groove (image 2)
Common in horses with a short ribcage and a deep, round barrel, such as many draft-type horses. The girth groove sits close behind the elbow, causing the girth (and often the saddle) to be pulled forward.
✔️ Best choice: Crescent-shaped girths, designed to keep the saddle in its correct position.

🐴 Backward Girth Groove (image 3)
Often seen in horses with a longer ribcage and an upward-sloping underline, such as many Thoroughbreds and sport horses. The girth groove sits further back, creating more backward pull on the saddle.
✔️ Best choice: A very lightly shaped girth, allowing the saddle to remain balanced without excessive backward pressure.

Finding the right girth isn't about choosing the most popular option, it's about choosing the one that matches your horse's unique conformation. The right combination of saddle and girth helps improve stability, comfort, and overall performance for both horse and rider 🤎
